Everything about 2012’s ‘The Haunted Man, the third release from English singer-songwriter Natasha Kahn (AKA Bat For Lashes) gorgeous. The album ended up being one of my top five favorite releases of last year. On ‘The Haunted Man‘, Kahn lets her guard down, explores lush soundscapes and throws herself into every word of the evocative moving lyrics, her vocals are softer showing someone who is deeply hurt.
To me, the track “Laura” is extremely powerful with it’s simpleness that features only a piano and delicate horns floating in the distance. I find Kahn’s voice is so powerful here & I get emotional with every listen, it’s simple the finest song she’s written. One line from the song strikes me every time… “You’re the train that crashes my heart.”
